Course Update

The weather has enabled the greens team to continue their excellent work over the past couple of weeks. We have also taken the opportunity to invite the tree surgeons that successfully removed the trees by the 2nd white tee to remove the trees that were obscuring the view of the right side of the 16th hole from the tee. Once again they carried out the work efficiently and the view of the right side of the 16th is now much clearer from the tee. We plan to continue this type of tree clearance through the summer and into autumn.

Course maintenance

  • Tee aeration – As ever as well as mowing aeration of the key playing areas is vital for proper growth and a consistent playing surface. You will notice the holes made by the aerating of the tees over the next few days. The aeration holes will soon disappear but the benefits for the tees will be apparent for weeks.
  • Fairway mowing – The recent investment in refurbishing the fairway mower has been paying off as the green keeping team have been able to drop the height of the cut to produce quality playing surfaces that promote and reward good ball striking.
  • Strimming and tidying – Along with essential maintenance the green keeping team continue to keep non-playing areas as tidy as possible to ensure the entire course is presented to the highest possible standard. From clearing low branches, strimming bunkers and clearing larger areas such as that in front of the 18th tee the cumulative effect is to make the course as a whole the best it can be.

Astro turf rolls have now been positioned for path completion in the coming weeks. As noted when the paths bases were constructed he movement of astro turf rolls had to wait until ground conditions have become firm enough for the tele-handler and tractors needed for this task. The rolls will be laid over the hardcore in the next few weeks in good time for the autumn.

We hope you continue to enjoy the course this season.
