Short Game Area Update

As per our latest course update from this Saturday, 29th June, the new practice area with bunkers and green will be open. The intention is for this to be the start of a 4-week trial period during which we can observe how the area is used and gain feedback from you on it too. The new area completes our goal of providing you the opportunity to practice all aspects of your short game in a high quality and well-presented space. It is important that you please use the space as three distinct areas so that practice can be safe and enjoyable for all, these are:

  1. The putting green
  2. The chipping area
  3. The new bunker and short pitching green

The putting green

Very simply you are asked to only practice putting on this area which is most of the putting surface closest to the entrance from the car park. Please observe the notice to not chip onto the green from the fringe areas.

The chipping area

Instead, to practice chip shots onto the green, please do so from the far end of the green and the other side of the rope that divides the areas. We recently placed the rope in position, and it seems to have worked well. It is very important you only play shots to the 3 pins that are closest to that side of the green. Play to pins on the putting green, the other side of the blue rope, is prohibited.

The new bunker & short pitching area

The trial opening of this space is very important for us to ensure that you can use it safely and enjoyably. There are some very important points for you to follow when using the area that will make this possible.

  • Please only play from inside the roped area and towards the green.
  • Never play from the rear of the green where the ‘No Play Zone’ signs are placed facing the Club House.
  • You can play from the top and bottom ends of the green, but you must not play shots back across the ropes if they finish there during practice.
  • Please do not attempt to retrieve golf balls from the trees at the rear of the green. This area will be fenced in a few weeks’ time to prevent balls going through. One of the reasons for the trial is to ensure the fence is positioned in the right place.
  • As on any other area of the golf course please give priority to green keeping staff when they are in the area for maintenance work
  • There will be sand/seed dispensers left around the area for divot filling, please use them after practice.
  • Please rake bunkers.
  • Please use your own practice balls. The use of range balls in the area is not permitted.
  • Be aware of the new drop zone at the rear of the 9th green for balls that finish in the roped area from the 9th

It will great to see the area in use just a year after construction. We are confident you will enjoy the area and hope it helps your practice and your play on the course too!
